CONCENTRATE ROB !! She already told you the release dates…Well,I don’t blame you, with a pretty girl and couple of nice AK:s my mind would be wandering too… I have always wanted a Galil on 308 (well the earlier versions actually), but with that price tag…Not yet, lets see how it performs. And even if it performs well, I still have to think twice, just because of the price. With 1K – 1,2K, I wouldn’t hesitate.Ergonomics look quite ok, with thumb safety etc.

I have waiting for IWI to actually ship the 7.62×39 rifle for over a year. During this time, I have started to wonder about the price. So my question to you Rob is the Galil chambered in standard AK worth the money or am I better off buying an Arsenal, optics, and a case of ammo for less?
Looking for my first AK platform and want something reasonably accurate, feeds reliably, and takes standard AK mags.

I would go with the AKM( milled or stamped) if you want 7.62×39. For .308 the Saiga is out there for a decent price. The VEPR 308 is also a fine choice If you want more of an RPK receiver. The Galil 308 would be nice. Not sure for $2000 but $1500 maybe. But for 7.62×39 I would stick with an AKM. Its cheaper and you can start shooting today. If you bought the Galil you would need to allocate money for ammo and optics. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth the price for 7.62×39. .308 you may be able to justify the cost. As always, you can wait until they are on the used market

Any update on how these perform in 7.62x39mm?

I just got a line on possibly buying one and wondered how they hold up.

    Thanks,

    John

There are thousands of those in hands of users now. I haven’t heard even one complain about their quality. But i don’t own one…
